Is English the easiest language ?

They even over-study every small detail from the grammar point of you and they focus a lot on the irregularities in the language. Every language has irregularities or exceptions. There is no language that is perfect.

For instance, there are irregularities even in Hindi. Every small thing is classified on the basis of masculine and feminine. In Hindi, the word door is considered masculine and on the other hand, the word roof is considered feminine. To know more about the irregularities in Hindi click here.

This is to give you a clear picture of irregularities or exceptions and to show that no language is perfect and has irregularities. every language has some uniqueness and can’t be compared to any other language.

There are many reasons to say that English is difficult to learn. Irregular verbs, grammar rules, and their exceptions, spelling and pronunciation exceptions, the list just goes on. If you go on looking for flaws in a language and keep saying that it is difficult, then it’s quite difficult for you to learn that language.

Instead of looking into the flaws and irregularities one should look on the bright side and find easy and fun methods to learn. A person should enjoy learning a new language.

1. Grammar system

Just like any other language English has its own set of grammar rules. Grammar is the system of any language. Grammar in simple words means rules. According to the majority, grammar is a very important part of any language. If one wants to excel in a language then it’s necessary to know grammar. But as far as speaking is concerned, grammar doesn’t really play an important role. If a person knows the basic rules of grammar then it’s easy for him to carry out any conversation easily. Many people speak their native language without learning grammar, the same applies when one is learning a new language. he must not concentrate only on grammar but rather on pronunciation and speaking skills.

English has a relatively easy grammar system, in English one doesn’t have to concentrate on gender-based sentences, it doesn’t have cases or word agreement. Overall English has an arguably simple grammar system.

English speakers may find it challenging to learn Portuguese or Arabic or any language that is not gender-neutral because they are not used to words having genders.

2. English is Gender- neutral Language

English- gender neutral language

Firstly, gender-neutral language means a language that is not gender-biased. This reduces assumptions about a person’s gender when you address a new person or refer to people in a crowd. Most of the nouns, pronouns, and adjectives in English are non-gender specific. If you see in many languages, a sentence changes according to the noun. For instance, in English, a person might say – “I am eating”. In other languages, the same sentence is used differently for different gender.

Hence, in English, you have to learn fewer pronouns and fewer sentences. It makes it very easy as one can be sure to an extent, that he is not addressing someone with a wrong pronoun.

3. Verb Conjugation

Secondly, verbs are an important part of any language. Conjugating a verb means, a person changes a verb according to the sentence so that the sentence is clear and can be easily understood. One must admit that it is very simple to conjugate any verb. Except if the verb is used with third person singular. In this case, you just have to add an “s”, “ed” ├»ng” or “d” to the base verb. Example: walk, walks, walked and walking

Conjugated verb

Subsequently, there are many irregular verbs that one might find difficult to learn, but a little practice and hard work might surely help. Also, there are many irregular verbs that an average English user doesn’t use. So don’t waste much time and learn only the verbs that you will need to use on daily basis. Example: wake, wakes, woke and waking.

4. Noun Conjugation

Thirdly, noun conjugation is the simplest and the only thing a person should do is keep in mind a simple rule. In case of possessive demands, an apostrophe and an “s” should be added against the noun. Example: Rahul – Rahul’s.

In the other cases, all the other nouns remain the same and untouched, irrespective of any grammatical situation. The only thing to keep in mind is to use that appropriate preposition.

5. Aricles

In English, there are only two types of articles – definite and indefinite. The definite article includes “the”. Under indefinite articles – “a” and “an”. These are the only three articles a person has to learn about. There are no exceptions when it comes to articles.

In articles, one has to only learn when to apply which article. If you have trouble understanding when to use definite articles, indefinite articles or zero articles the click here to learn more about them.

6. Tense

Then have a look at tense. most people find it difficult to remember tenses. Beginners panic when they come across something like – present progressive tense. One good thing about tenses is that one can start speaking and converse really well by just knowing basic tenses, which includes past, present and future.

This doesn’t mean that you don’t need to learn other tenses. Each tense has its own use. This is just to convey that one doesn’t have to know all the tenses in detail to start speaking.

7. One can use Nouns as Adjectives

In English, one can use a noun as an adjective, simply to modify other nouns. They are also called nouns that look like adjectives. Many people don’t know this and give little thought is the fact that you can use two nouns alongside each other without adding an apostrophe “s”. Native speakers know this fact and think it’s rather common sense. For beginners, this is another English shortcut. When a person uses nouns as adjectives then it is called attributive adjectives.

Example: race car. Here both the car and race are nouns.

Another example: “Car engine.”- most people think it’s “car’s engine”.

Just because these nouns do the same work as adjectives don’t mean that they are not nouns. Think of them as nouns that multitask.

8. Most words act as both Verb and Nouns

It is evident that a noun means the name of a place, person or thing. On the other hand, verbs are the words that describe the actions of nouns. There are no restrictions on how many times a word can be used in a sentence as long the sentence makes sense and is dramatically correct. If a sentence requires it then, you can use the same word as a noun and a verb simultaneously.

Let’s assume a person wants to know if the word is a noun in the sentences, then he must add an article before it and see if it makes sense and if the word makes sense then it’s a noun. If one wishes to check if the word is a verb then he must add “I” or “you” or any other pronoun or noun before it. If the sentence makes sense then it is a verb. SO how can a noun act as a verb?

Let us consider an example:

He likes to play chess.

Here play is a verb. It describes the action.

He is watching a play.

Here play is a noun. The sentence describes that the person is watching a show.
